Professional Teaching Assistant Training
Professional Teaching Assistant Training is designed to provide learners with practical knowledge and essential skills for supporting teachers, pupils, and the wider learning environment. The course introduces the key responsibilities of a teaching assistant, classroom organisation, effective communication, instructional support, inclusive education, and the use of educational technology.
Module 1: Role and Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant
This module introduces the professional role of a teaching assistant within an educational setting. Learners explore daily responsibilities, supporting teachers, assisting pupils, maintaining professional boundaries, promoting positive learning environments, safeguarding responsibilities, confidentiality, and effective teamwork with teaching staff and other education professionals.
Module 2: Classroom Management and Organisation
This module focuses on creating and maintaining an organised, supportive, and productive classroom. Learners examine classroom routines, behaviour support, managing resources, assisting with activities, promoting positive behaviour, maintaining a safe learning environment, and helping teachers manage different classroom situations effectively.
Module 3: Effective Communication Skills
Clear and respectful communication is essential for successful teaching assistant practice. This module develops communication skills for working with pupils, teachers, parents, carers, and colleagues. Topics include active listening, verbal and non-verbal communication, giving clear instructions, adapting communication to individual needs, building positive relationships, and handling challenging conversations professionally.
